Artist Statement
My work as an abstract artist is rooted in the exploration of form, texture, and materiality. As a sculptor, I work primarily with ceramics and fiber, utilizing experimental processes that incorporate play and intuition. I believe the materials themselves can guide the work, leading to unexpected outcomes that challenge both myself and the viewer.
My sculptures often evoke organic forms and textures, drawing inspiration from anatomy, nature, and cycles of transformation. Through my process, I seek to explore the tension between strength and softness, held in material and body alike.
I am drawn to the unpredictable and the spontaneous, allowing for a sense of improvisation and discovery in my work. By embracing the unexpected and following the lead of the materials, I aim to create pieces that are both visceral and contemplative—inviting the viewer to engage with their own sense of perception, embodiment, and interpretation.
