How It Was Crafted

Shana Ostrowiecki begins by working the clay by hand to prepare it for sculpting the menorah's main body. She uses a selection of hand-building techniques to create distinctive textures and embellishments, imbuing each piece with intricate detail.

After shaping and smoothing, the menorah is left to dry thoroughly for several days before moving on to the next step. It is then bisque fired at 1,850°F to prepare it for glazing. Shana sands and refines the surface before applying multiple coats of hand-painted glaze.

The final step involves kiln-firing at approximately 1,926°F, which enhances the glaze's depth and strengthens the ceramic, resulting in a beautifully crafted and remarkable menorah.
