How It Was Crafted

Our mugs begin with a silhouette thoughtfully designed by Shana Ostrowiecki, which is then crafted by skilled California artisans on a pottery wheel. Once the foundational form is prepared, Shana personally applies a variety of hand-building techniques, incorporating intuitive mark-making to create her distinctive surface designs, each adorned with intricate details.

After refining and smoothing, the clay dries thoroughly over several days, preparing it for the next step. The mugs are bisque fired at approximately 1855°F, then sanded and finished before receiving multiple coats of hand-painted glaze.

A final kiln firing at around 2000°F deepens the glaze and reinforces the ceramic, resulting in beautifully crafted, unique mugs.
