CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Hand wash and avoid using abrasive sponges or harsh cleaning agents.
  • Avoid using in the oven or microwave to preserve quality.

How It Was Crafted

Shana Ostrowiecki begins by working the clay to prepare it for sculpting, then rolls it out into smooth, even slabs. Utilizing a range of hand-building techniques, she creates a distinctive surface design and intuitive mark-making, imbuing each piece with intricate detail.

After shaping and smoothing, the clay is allowed to dry thoroughly over several days to prepare for the next step. The piece then undergoes bisque firing at approximately 1855°F to ready it for glazing. Shana sands and refines the surface before applying multiple coats of hand-painted glaze.

The final step involves kiln firing at approximately 2000°F, which enhances the depth of the glaze and reinforces the ceramic. This meticulous process results in a beautifully crafted and unique dish.
